About David Katz

David Katz was introduced to the Siddha Yoga path by his wife, Kashmiri, in 1982 and received shaktipat-diksha from Gurumayi Chidvilasananda in a Siddha Yoga Shaktipat Intensive in Shree Muktananda Ashram in 1984. He has been a teacher in Siddha Yoga teaching and learning events, wrote commentaries for the Siddha Yoga path website, and wrote the introduction to Gurumayi’s book The Yoga of Discipline. In David’s writing and speaking, he conveys the incomparable value of the Guru’s teachings in ways that are both practical and inspiring. David also serves as president and board chair of the Muktabodha Indological Research Institute.

David received a PhD in neurobiology and behavior at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and he completed postdoctoral training in developmental neurology at Cornell University Medical College in Manhattan, New York, and Collège de France in Paris. He recently retired as professor of neurosciences and psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. David and his wife, Kashmiri, live in Fallsburg, New York, and have two grown children.
