Ami Jokhakar Bansal was introduced to the Siddha Yoga path by her parents and in 1976, at the age of eleven months, she first visited Gurudev Siddha Peeth and received Baba Muktananda’s darshan. Ami began offering seva when she was six years old, serving as a darshan assistant to Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. Ami was a Gurukula student in Gurudev Siddha Peeth for twelve years, from 1993 to 2005. Since 2005, she has served in the SYDA Foundation as a writer and a scholar of Sanskrit language and scriptures. Ami is also a Siddha Yoga meditation teacher, and since 2008 she has taught many Pilgrimage to the Heart Retreats in Gurudev Siddha Peeth.

Ami has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Sanskrit from the University of Mumbai in India—a course of study she was inspired to pursue because of her love of the Siddha Yoga teachings and her desire to serve Gurumayi. Ami lives in Mumbai with her husband, Ruchir, and their daughter, Nitya-Shriya.
