Baba’s Compassionate Vision

Celebrating Baba Muktananda’s Lunar Birthday 2016

On May 21, 2016, Siddha Yogis and seekers new to the Siddha Yoga path celebrated the 108th lunar birthday of Baba Muktananda. This was a time to honor Baba, to express gratitude for Baba’s divine teachings, and to reflect on Baba’s profound legacy.

In Shree Muktananda Ashram, a Celebration Satsang titled Baba’s Compassionate Vision was held in honor of this momentous occasion. In this satsang, participants recited Shri Guru Gita and listened to talks by three Siddha Yoga Swamis. The Swamis shared experiences of Baba and taught about the incredible contribution that Baba made to this world.

Later that evening, participants joined Gurumayi Chidvilasananda in the Bhagavan Nityananda Temple to sing the Evening Arati. Chanting the verses of the Arati with Gurumayi—verses which were compiled by Baba himself—was a powerful and uplifting culmination to this auspicious day.

On the 15th of May, 2016, during the chanting saptah at Gurudev Siddha Peeth, I experienced the presence of Baba Muktananda. During the saptah, every 50 minutes, a new team of musicians entered Hridayadeep Hall, and in their enthusiasm I felt the flow of Baba’s shakti.

The satsang in celebration of Baba’s 108th Lunar Birthday began with the Siddha Yoga swamis reciting the Ganapati Atharvashirsha mantras. In one   melodious voice they invoked profound blessings for this most auspicious day. My heart was bathed in the beauty and power of the mantras. The Siddha Yoga swamis, standing together in their bright orange robes, held great presence, and I felt a palpable strength emanating from their many years of sadhana and dedicated service to Baba and Gurumayi.

Baba’s presence was all-encompassing, scintillating in the vibrant stillness summoned by the swamis’ recitation of these mantras. This was a perfect inauguration of a magnificent satsang celebrating Baba Muktananda’s compassionate vision!

What a glorious day this was. The blessings of this golden celebration of our beloved Baba now continue. A gentle rain falls upon Shree Muktananda Ashram and the bright orange mid-spring sun has melted into an ink blue night sky.

    Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday, Baba!

    "Guru and shishya ek!"
    This reverberates.

    I see Baba dancing ecstatically.

    My heart swells open.
    Tears roll down my cheeks.
    I go into meditation.
    No matter the distance
My Guru and I are really one!.

Such tenderness… such love… such peace.

I wept in joy, gratitude, and recognition as I read these shares from the satsang. I read Baba’s loving command to Swami Indirananda as his same command to me—to fully realize that “The Guru and disciple are one!”

I feel Baba is with me when I study his words. I feel Baba fully present when I invoke his name in the midst of my day at work. I feel him with me as I study Gurumayi’s Message, finding joy.

    Happy Birthday, Baba!
